Students’ Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) Policy

1. Preamble

In accordance with the University Grants Commission (UGC) Regulations and the guidelines of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the Institution establishes a Students’ Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) to address and resolve grievances of students in a fair, transparent, and time-bound manner. The policy aims to uphold student rights and ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive academic environment.

2. Purpose

The Students Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) is constituted to provide a fair, transparent, and time-bound mechanism for addressing grievances of students related to academic, administrative, infrastructural, financial, or interpersonal matters.

3. Objectives

• To provide a structured and accessible mechanism for redressal of students’ grievances.

• To ensure impartial, transparent, and timely resolution of complaints.

• To safeguard the rights, dignity, and well-being of students.

• To promote accountability and good governance within the institution.

• To identify systemic issues and recommend corrective and preventive measures.

4. Composition of SGRC

The SGRC typically consist of:

• Chairperson (senior faculty member)

• Faculty representatives (from different departments)

• Student representative(s)

5. Functions of the SGRC

• Receive grievances submitted by students.

• Examine the grievances and conduct necessary inquiries.

• Ensure fair hearing to all concerned parties.

• Recommend appropriate redressal measures.

• Maintain records of grievances and their resolution.

4. Types of grievances

The SGRC shall address grievances related to:

• Academic issues (evaluation, attendance, teaching-learning process)

• Administrative matters

• Infrastructure and facilities

• Fees, scholarships, and financial concerns

• Harassment, discrimination, or unfair treatment (excluding cases covered under specific statutory bodies such as ICC)
