Prof. Towqueer Alam Falahi began his early education in his hometown and later joined Jamiatul Falah, a renowned Islamic institution in Bilariaganj, Azamgarh (U.P.), where he obtained the degrees of al-Almiah and al-Fadilah.

In 1985, he joined Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) to further his academic journey. He completed his M.A. and M.Phil. in Arabic Literature from the Department of Arabic, AMU. Subsequently, he pursued and earned his Doctorate from the same department, focusing his research on "The Holy Qur'an and the Orientalists."

After receiving his Doctorate, Prof. Alam was appointed as a Research Associate in the Department of Arabic. On May 11, 1993, he joined the Faculty of Theology as a Lecturer in Sunni Theology at AMU, Aligarh. He was promoted to Reader (on a cadre post) on January 29, 2004, and later elevated to the position of Professor in Sunni Theology on January 29, 2010.

Prof. Alam has made significant contributions to the field of Islamic Studies, with 210 research papers published and 15 under publication in prestigious journals both in India and abroad. His scholarly work has appeared in numerous reputable journals and magazines, including:

He has presented research papers and invited lectures in over 210 national and international seminars and conferences.

In April 2016, he visited Mercer University, Atlanta, U.S.A. as a Visiting Professor. Over the years, he has authored 38 books in Urdu, Arabic, English, and Hindi.

Prof. Alam has been an invited guest of the British, Iranian, Kuwaiti, and U.S. governments to participate in various academic seminars, symposia, and interfaith dialogues.

With over 34 years of teaching experience, particularly in Tafseer (Qur’anic Exegesis) and Tarikh-e-Mazahib (History of Religions).

Besides the position of Professor in the Department of Sunni Theology, AMU, Prof. Towqueer Alam Falahi has been serving as the Editor of Fikr-o-Nazar, a prestigious academic journal of International repute published by Aligarh Muslim University. Over the years, he has held several significant positions within the university. He has served as the Chairman of the Department of Sunni Theology and as the Nazim-e-Deeniyat (Director of Religious Affairs) for the Sunni community at AMU. In addition, he has also held the posts of Chairman of the Department of Shia Theology and Nazim-e-Deeniyat (Director of Religious Affairs) for the Shia community. Prof. Alam has been a Member of the Academic Council, Executive Council, and University Court. Moreover, He served two terms as the Dean of the Faculty of Theology (2017–2019 and 2023–2025). During his tenures of Seniormost Dean, he carried out the responsibilities of Vice-Chancellor (officiating) of AMU several times.
