Dr. Mohammad Tahir is a distinguished academician and a committed social work educator, currently serving as Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at Aligarh Muslim University. With over 28 years of rich teaching experience, Dr. Tahir has made significant contributions to the field of social work education, research, and community engagement.
He has participated in 28 International and National Seminars/ Conferences and presented Research papers & also contributed chapters in books. Dr. Tahir authored two books on Research for Social Workers: A PRA/PLA Guide for Field Work, and Urban Development Dynamics of Policy and Planning, His Teaching specialty includes Human Resource Management & IR, Community work and Social Work Research & Project Formulation and Evaluation. He has also completed two research projects as Co-PI funded by Johns Hopkins, University, U.S.A.
Besides, he was part of various development projects funded by National and International Agencies. He has applied effectively the theoretical knowledge on field work practice while working in area of Community work, Social Case Work, and Group Work He has applied the expertise in Social Work over issues by working in rural areas on the issues of health, training of pradhans in Panchayati Raj Institutions, Training of ASHA workers etc.
He is Coordinator of Training and Placement Cell and Counselling Cell of the department, Rural Winter Camps for social work students, Orientation programme for newly admitted students, weekly seminar presentation, MSW admission and Ph.D. Admissions of the Department of Social Work.
Dr. Tahir's pedagogical approach is rooted in interdisciplinary learning and practical exposure. He encourages critical thinking, ethical practice, and professional development among students, aiming to prepare them for leadership roles in the social sector.
