Dr. Aftab Alam is Professor of International Relations and Chairman of the Department of Strategic and Security Studies, at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He did his MA, M. Phil, Ph.D. in Political Science from Aligarh Muslim University and LLM in International Human Rights Law from University of Essex, U.K. He was recipient of prestigious Chevening Scholarship of the British Govt. He specializes in the area of Human rights, International  International Law and Politics. He was also an attendee of Summer Course of Hague Academy of International Law. He served as member of Executive Council, Indian Society of International Law, New Delhi. He is on the editorial board of the Indian Journal of International Law and ISIL Yearbook on International Humanitarian and Refugee Law. Dr. Alam has more than 25 years of teaching and research experience. He has supervised/supervising several M.Phil. dissertations and Ph.D. theses, mostly in the area of Human Rights and International Relations. He also completed a UGC sponsored Major Research Project on Educational Rights of Minorities. He has participated and presented papers and chaired session in large number of International and National Conferences/Seminars. He has delivered lectures at UGC Academic Staff Colleges on various topics of Human Rights and, Research Ethics. He has authored/ edited six books and published more than 50 research papers and articles in prestigious journals in the areas of human rights, international law and international politics. He regularly writes opinion articles for news papers and portals on contemporary political issues. He has also contributed chapters in the edited volumes. He was commissioned by the International Committee of the Red Cross to write an introductory book on International Humanitarian Law. His book on His book on Human Rights in India has been well received.
