Dr. Sumaira Mohammad Ajmal is currently serving as a Guest Teacher in the Department of Arabic at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. A native speaker of Arabic, she was born and brought up in Madinah Munawwarah, Saudi Arabia, and completed her schooling up to the 12th standard in Riyadh, KSA.

She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University in 2008, followed by a master’s degree in Arabic from Aligarh Muslim University in 2011, and a Ph.D. in Arabic from the same institution in 2020. After completing her undergraduate studies, she began her teaching career in 2008 at Taqwa International School, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where she taught the Arabic language.

She qualified for the UGC NET examination in 2022 and has worked as a freelance Arabic tutor and translator from 2020 to 2025.

Dr. Sumaira has been actively engaged in academic teaching, research, and scholarly publications at both national and international levels. Her research interests include Arabic linguistics, Indology, as well as medieval and modern Arabic literature. She has edited one book published in Lebanon in 2021, translated another from Arabic into Urdu, and authored more than half a dozen research articles in reputed peer-reviewed journals.
