Over 16 years tenure since my appointment in the Aligarh Muslim University, I have taught courses, namely Mammalogy, Wildlife Habitat Management, Biodiversity- its Conservation and Management, Herpetology, Laboratory Techniques in Wildlife Studies and occasionally Ornithology. In research I have used radio-telemetry for studying predator-prey relationships, spatial organisation, breeding biology and variation in individual behaviour of Grey wolf in semi-arid landscapes in the Deccan plateau. I have also worked on bird communities of semi-arid ecosystem. Of late, in collaboration with the Bombay Natural History Society carried out a surveillance of bird diseases with reference to bird flu in wild waterbirds in Uttar Pradesh and migratory behaviour of Bar-headed Geese using satellite telemetry and some other waterfowl by using bird rings. My research interests include conducting long-term studies on dynamics of arid and semi-arid ecosystems of India, the flora and the fauna there especially the endangered taxa and their critical habitat requirements. I also intend to study climate change and its impacts on biological diversity.
