Dr. Badar Jahan is a Professor in Department of Fine Arts at Aligarh Muslim University with an experience of teaching and research of more than 25 years. She graduated and did her M.Phil. and Ph.D. from Aligarh Muslim University. As an artist she held shows in London, New York and Chicago. Lalit Kala Akademi honoured her with State Award and recognised her as Contemporary Artist of Uttar Pradesh and also invited her for State Exchange Exhibitions at Jaipur and Mumbai. The Regional Centre of Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi invited her for Regional Artist Camp. Dr. Jahan was selected among thirteen artists from all over India for an Artist Camp by the Directorate of Art and Culture, Govt. of Goa where she was felicitated by the Governor of Goa, Minister of art and culture, Director and secretary, Art and Culture, Govt. of Goa.
She held Solo, duo shows and participated in Regional, State and other exhibitions throughout the country specially in Mumbai, New Delhi, Orissa, Jaipur, Allahabad, Lucknow and Aligarh. Her shows received appreciative coverage in print media - such as Hindustan Times, Times of India, The Hindu, Pioneer, Indian Express and also in electronic media.
As the Coordinator of the prestigious Moinuddin Ahmad Art Gallery of Aligarh Muslim University, her contribution in reviving and developing the art gallery, has been widely acknowledged by the teachers, students and the artists who are being benefited by regularly organised National and International exhibitions, residencies, workshops, lectures and collaborative programmes, especially with IGNCA, New Delhi, Lalit Kala Akademi, Lucknow, Institute of Persian research, AMU, Embassy of Indonesia, Embassy of USA and many independent organisations since the inauguration of the art gallery on 17th October 2013. She has also held administrative positions such as Asst. Proctor and Asst. D.S.W. in AMU.
The Book "Abstraction in Indian Painting- Post Independence Era" authored by Prof. Badar Jahan has been selected as collection by Victoria and Albert Museum and 38 Libraries worldwide. This book has received an appreciative Book Review in the National Newspaper- The Hindu. She has completed a Major Research Project sanctioned by University Grants Commission, Government of India. she was the course coordinator and e-content script writer for BFA courses for the Vyas Channel (UGC), SWAYAM (MHRD). She was invited to deliver lectures, to chair sessions and as Resource Person to refresher course in Visual Arts at Academic Staff College (University Grants Commission), Himachal Pradesh University and as Resource Person to Academic Staff College, (University Grants Commission) AMU, Aligarh.
