I did my Ph.D. in Experimental Nuclear Physics from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, under the supervision of (late) Prof. M. L. Sehgal in 1982. Since then, I have been engaged in Nuclear Reaction Studies using neutron, proton, alpha particle and heavy-ion beams, for which I have used Van-de-Graaff accelerators at B.A.R.C., Mumbai and I.I.T. Kanpur, Cyclotron at Panjab University, Chandigarh and Variable Energy Cyclotron at Kolkata . 15 UD Pelletron at I.U.A.C, New Delhi has also been used for heavy-ion experiments.
I joined the department as a Research Associate in1982 and later switched over on teaching position as a Lecturer in 1984. I was promoted to Reader in 1992 and Professor in 2000. I have been Principal Investigators of research projects financed by UGC, New Delhi; IUAC, New Delhi and UGC-DAE-CSR, Kolkata. I have published about 43 research papers in Journals of International Repute like Physical Review C (USA), Nuclear Physics A (Netherlands) , Journal of Physics. G: Nuclear and Particle Physics (U.K.), International Journal of Modern Physics E (Singapore), Z.fur Physik A (Germany) etc. About 85 research papers have been presented in National/International Symposia and Conferences. I have been involved in teaching of under graduate and postgraduate courses specially Nuclear Physics, Electronics, Optics and Electromagnetic Theory. The field of my research interest is Experimental Nuclear Physics. Research students have been working for their M.Phil. and Ph.D. degree under my supervision in the department.
