About the Department
2001- The Centre for Women's Studies, AMU established.
2008- Upgradation of Centre directly from Phase I to Phase III by UGC.
2012- Assigned the status of "Advanced Centre" by UGC in its XII plan .
2004-05 : Women's studies accepted as a subsidiary subject at undergraduate level in faculty of Social Sciences.
2007-08 : Ph.D./M.Phil programme introduced.
2011-12 : Master's Course in Women's Studies Started. Reading materials compiled in English and Hindi, made available free of cost to every student.
2013-14 : Undergraduate course in Women's Studies started.

Renovation of the Centre (2013-14): Two additional class rooms, extension of library, one renovated office and renewal of the Director's room.
