Department of Ilaj-bit-Tadbeer had come into existence in 2006 under 11th five year plan but has been officially declared on 2nd December, 2011. Prior to this it was a section of the department of Moalejat A. K. Tibbiya College.
The Department of Moalejat was imparting teaching and training in the disciplines like Saririyat in II prof. and Moalejat in III Prof. and Ilaj-bit-Tadbeer was a part of that. Technically Ilaj-bit-Tadabeer means "Alteration/Moderation in" Asbab Sitta Zaruriya ba halat-e-Marz. "Asbab Sitta Zaruriya" includes 'Al-Hawa al muhit' (atmospheric air), 'Al-Makul wa'l-Mashrub' (foods and drinks), Al-Harkat wa'l Sukun al badaniyah' (physical/bodily movement and repose), 'Al-Harkat wa'l sukun al nafsaniyah' (mental/psychic movement and repose), An-Naum wal-Yaqzah (Sleep/Wakefulness) and 'Al-ihtibas wa'l-Istifragh' (Retention/Evacuation).
The regimens/ measures that alter/ moderate the 'Kammiyat/Kaifiat' (quantity/ quality) of 'Sabab-e-Marz' (causative factor) e.g. if a disease is caused by 'Takseer-e-Kammiyat' (increase in quantity) of a particular humor, it would be treated with those regimens/techniques that make 'Taqleel-e-Kammiyat' (decrease in quantity) in it and if it is caused by decreased level, the treatment shall be vice versa. Similarly when the disease is caused by 'Har Mizaj' (Hot temperament), it would be treated with those techniques that exert 'Buroodat' (Coldness) or when there is 'Buroodat' (Coldness) it shall be vice versa. The different regimens/measures which are applied for the purpose are: 'Riyazat' (exercise), 'Dalak' (massage), 'Hijama' (Cupping), 'Takmeed' (Fomentation), 'Hammam' (Bath), 'Fasad' (venesection), Taleeq (Leeching) and 'Inkebab' (Steam inhalation) etc.
In the light of the above features, department of Ilaj-bit-Tadbeer is providing health care to the sufferers and imparting teaching and training to the students of UG and PG levels since its inception. The various techniques mentioned above especially modern techniques like traction Takmeed with short & long wave diathermy and infra red radiation are used for the purpose and approximately12597 patients have been benefited with the above techniques as outdoor/indoor patients till 31 August 2014.
