A candidate will be eligible to apply for admission to Ph.D. programme, if s/he has obtained Master’s Degree or its equivalent, recognized by the University in a subject relevant to her/his proposed field of research with not less than an aggregate of 55% marks or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7 point scale (or an equivalent overall average grade point wherever grading system is followed), and had also obtained the Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent recognized by the University with not less than an aggregate of 50% marks or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7 point scale (or an equivalent overall average grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed), subject to any further requirements for eligibility that may be laid down by the University from time to time.

COURSE.PEO :


The research scholar will be expected to –


  1. Identify the research gap in his/her area of interest to formulate the problem of research to study.

  2. Apply the techniques of qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods of research in the context of research question/hypothesis testing.

  3. Display the skill of online and offline literature review techniques in the context of his/her research.

  4. Create the body of knowledge on the basis of literature reviews interpretations in the context of the selected research problem.

  5. Select the appropriate statistical test and graphical representations based on the nature of the data, hypothesis and research questions.

  6. Display the method of calibration, administration and management of instruments used in varied subject’s areas of physical education, fitness and sport.

  7. Demonstrate the collection, cleaning, analysis and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data manually and with the intervention of the software packages.

  8. Communicate the results in the context of the hypothesis/research questions for a wider audience in physical education, fitness and sport.

  9. Display skills in reference writing of recommended style manually and with the help of the software.

  10. Participate in reputed publications, conferences, seminars, workshops, dialogues, podcasts and project writing related to his/her problem, physical education, fitness, sport etc.

  11. Advocate ethical practices related to research and publication in physical education, fitness and sport.

  12. Display the 21st-century competencies and technological proficiency skills related to research, physical education, and fitness sport.

  13. Advocate the importance of physical activity and healthy eating/living as a lifelong goal for society.

COURSE.PO :

The research scholar will be able to-


  1. Question the existing practices in physical education, fitness and sport in search of better solutions and practices.

  2. Identify a research problem in his/her area of interest related to physical education, fitness and sport.

  3. Construct the body of knowledge related to the research problem of the basis of the synthesis of the existing literature.

  4. Demonstrate the methods and techniques of qualitative, quantitative and mixed research to test the hypothesis/research question of the selected problem.

  5. Display sampling, data collection, data analysis, data presentation and referencing techniques manually and with the software.

  6. Collaborate to quality publications, conferences, seminars, workshops, dialogues, podcasts and projects related to physical education, fitness, sport etc.

  7. Advocate ethical practices related to research and publication in physical education, fitness and sport.

  8. Exhibit 21st-century competency and technological proficiency in the professions related to research and development in physical education, fitness, and sport.

  9. Promote the importance of physical activity and healthy eating/living as a lifelong goal in society.



Programme Specific Outcomes (PSO’s):

The research scholar will be able to-


  1. Debate the contemporary theories, practices, values by questioning what, when, why in the search for the logical answer to his/her questions.

  2. Design the research proposal and final thesis according to the programme standards.

  3. Demonstrate research techniques like a case study, phenomenological study, comparative study, correlation study, concurrent study etc. as per the problem methodology demands.

  4. Choose parametric and non-parametric sampling techniques, statistical tests and graphical representations on the basis of the nature of the data.

  5. Advocate ethical practices related to data collection, preservation, analysis, presentation, and creating a body of knowledge, research publication in physical education, fitness and sport.

  6. Collaborate to UGC Care listed and Scopus publications, and quality conferences, seminars, workshops, dialogues, podcasts and projects related to physical education, fitness, sport etc.

  7. Display skills related to communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, leadership, EdTech hard and software usages in the personal and professional aspects of physical education, fitness and sport.

  8. Promote the adoption of lifelong physical activities (like Yoga-Asana, Pranayama), 5-6 days/week at a moderate level in society.
