April 11 : : The Planning Commission and National Innovation Council jointly organized a novel programme "Hackathon" to gauge the understanding about Twelfth Five Year Plan at university and college level. The students of various departments of Aligarh Muslim University participated in the innovative programme and won several prizes in the creative events focused on the various aspects of XII Five Year Plan.
The students of Department of Computer Science, in particular, brought laurels to the University by winning several prizes in short film and visualization categories. A total 46 teams participated in the event at AMU Centre, out of which 8 teams were from the Department of Computer Science. Dr. Rafiqul Zaman Khan, Associate Professor prepared the teams and supervised them throughout the Hackathon event.
The Team I comprising Vikash Verma, Ankesh Kumar Sinha, Anuj Shrivastava and Waseem Akram won the First Prize in Short Films Category (Education Critics) while Team II comprising Khushnaseeb Roshan, Nikita Navlani, Priyanka Varshney and Trapti Agrawal bagged the second prize in Short Films Category (MCA Technovoid).
Sandeep Kumar, Ankit Dixit, Arshi Fatima and Faraz Masood of Team III, Sidra, Ishrat Jahan and Shahenoor Sams of Team IV, Jitendra Singhal, Farheen Sabir, Samar Ihsan and Varun Kumar Yadav of Team V and Mohammad Rashid Khan, Mohammad Waseem Akram, Mahammad Waseem and Ghufran Ahmad Khan of Team VIII won consolation prizes in Visualization Category.
On the other hand, Abdul Shamim Khan, Naiyer Asif, Mohd. Waseem Ansari and Zeeshan Alam Khan of Team VI and Md. Firoz Ali, 2. Mohd. Asif Khan, 3. Mohammad Naved Aslam and 4. Javed Ali of Team VII won consolation prize for Short Film category.
In total three First prizes and three Second prizes were given out of which 1 first prize of Rs. 25000 and 1 second prize of Rs. 15000/- has been won by the Department of Computer Science teams.
The Chairman of the department, Mr. Suhel Mustajab has congratulated the students on the big achievement.
