30-SEP-2014: On the issue of appointment of Dr. Asfar Ali Khan, Department of Electrical Engineering as officiating Registrar yesterday, the Aligarh Muslim University today clarified that the statute 5(3) clearly states, ‚??When the office of the Registrar is vacant or when the Registrar is, by reason of illness, absence or any other cause, unable to perform the duties of his office, the duties of the office shall be performed by such person as the Vice Chancellor may appoint for the purpose‚??.
Justifying the appointment of Dr. Asfar Ali Khan as Registrar, the University spokesperson said that the new officiating Registrar, Dr. Asfar Ali Khan, enjoys full faith of the Vice Chancellor.
As far as the qualification of the Registrar is concerned, a Master‚??s degree with 55% is required for the post. The officiating Registrar, Dr. Asfar Ali Khan holds a M. Tech. (Electrical Engineering) degree with 78.22% marks. In addition, he also has a doctorate. Dr. Khan has an experience of more than 15 years as an Assistant Professor, more than the required experience for the post of Registrar.
