09-OCT-2014: Ms. Kirti Singh Jadaun, who sought admission to Class XI in AMU under the sports category failed to clear the benchmark distance in long jump event today. Ms. Jadaun, who alleged injustice in sports trial held earlier on September 8, 2014, was invited to appear in retrial in the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah.
Prof. Mohammad Shoaib Zaheer, Secretary, University Games Committee said that that the retrial was conducted today at 7 am at the Athletics Ground of AMU in the presence of the Vice Chancellor, who ordered for another opportunity to Ms. Jadaun to prove her skill.
Ms. Kirti Singh Jadaun, who selected Long Jump event during the trial held on September 8, 2014 and subsequently failed to clear the benchmark, was given another opportunity to meet the challenge. Ms. Jadaun again failed to cross the target and fell short of the distance that she touched in her earlier attempt.
Prof. Zaheer said that experts present to judge the retrial, decided that the effort of Ms. Jadaun could not be given the highest grade as she could not clear the benchmark set for the trial.
Prof. Zaheer said that the retrial of Ms. Jadaun has proved that sports trials and admissions under sports quota in AMU are fair and transparent.
