13-OCT-2014: The Aligarh Medical Alumni Association of North America (AMAANA) today distributed prizes to the winners of the first poster presentation competition it organized recently at the J N Medical College, AMU.
The first prize of Rs 12,000 was bagged by Abad Khan, Shaista Jamil, Ashish Shrivastava, Arun Kumar, Vinay Pandey, Nabeel Mushtaq and Sara Alam of Department of Medicine on presentation of Alport Syndrome with Ileofemoral Deep Vein Thrombosis.
The second prize was shared by two teams. Team A comprised Azam Haseen, Neeta Verma, Mayank Yadav and Faria Shahabuddin of had Department of Surgery while the Team B had Hania Qamar Khan and Anjum Siddiqui. Both the teams were given a cash prize of Rs 9,000 each along with certificates.
The third prize went to M Saifullah Khalid, Paul Prakash S, Sabarish N and Sella Kumar of Department of Radio Diagnosis.
Addressing the prize distribution ceremony, Dr Ashraf Khan, Director, Surgical Pathology, University of Massachusetts Medical School, USA said that the AMAANA has organized the poster competition at the JN Medical College to boost morale of undergraduate and post-graduate students and encourage them to take part in the high quality research work.
Principal and CMS, JN Medical College, Prof Tariq Mansoor appreciated the work of AMAANA and hoped that the alumni of this Medical College will contribute meaningfully to the progress of the Medical College. He thanked AMAANA for generously donating money for the JN Medical College Auditorium.
On this occasion, Professor Shah Jahan Bano, Dean Faculty of Medicine also expressed her views.
Dr Mohsin Alvi, Professor Ashraf Khan and Professor Abdul Wasey judged the competition. The programme was conducted by Programme Coordinator, Dr (Major) Mohd F Khan.
Professor M U Rabbani, Professor Shahid Siddiqui, Professor Tamkin Rabbani, Professor S Shamshad Ahmad, Professor M Shuaib Zaheer, Professor S H Arif, Professor Mehboob Hasan, Professor Mohd Aslam and Dr Fazl ur Rehman were also present.
About 17 posters were presented during the competition on the occasion.
