20-OCT-2014: The Chief Election Officer, Aligarh Muslim University Students Union (AMUSU) and University Court, Prof (Hm.) Naeem Ahmad Khan has underlined important guidelines for the upcoming University Students Union and Court Elections 2014-15.
Professor Khan has stated that the AMUSU elections shall be held as per AMUSU (Conduct of Election) Regulations, 2012. He said that only bonafide students will be allowed to participate in the elections of student representatives to the University Court. He added that display of printed pamphlet, poster, banner and pasting them or writing on the walls of University buildings has strictly been prohibited. However, hand-made posters can be displayed at walls earmarked for the display of notices/general information in the vicinity of Halls of residence; space between trees, iron poles and fencing with barbed wires for hanging banners using Nylon and Jute ropes without disturbing the traffic.
Prof. Khan informed that the use of loud speakers and processions on vehicles will be prohibited and canvassing and campaigning in classrooms is prohibited.
Chief Election Officer cautioned students to abstain from using mobile phones inside the Polling Halls and the Centres to be used for counting of votes. He said that only polling agents will be allowed inside the Polling Halls.
Prof Khan informed that video of election process will be made to keep a vigil on violation and transgression of rules in University premises. He made it clear that election campaigning will not be allowed after 10 pm. Professor Khan said that any student found guilty of violating the Elections Code of Conduct will face a strict action.
