25-OCT-2014: The Department of Modern Indian Languages, Aligarh Muslim University is organizing a National Seminar on ‚??Sheikh Noor-ud Din Wali: Thought and Art‚?? on October 27-28, 2014. AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah (Retd.) will be the chief guest in the inaugural session.
The inaugural session of the seminar will be held on October 27 at 10:15 am at the Department of Modern Indian Languages. Prof. Masoodul Hasan, former Dean, faculty of Arts will preside over the session. Prof. M. Afzal Wani, Dean University School of Law and Legal Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi will deliver the Keynote Address.
Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, Director, National Seminar said that a large number of delegates from different parts of country are participating in the seminar. He said that the seminar will comprise ten technical sessions with three special lecture sessions. Prof. Gulshan majid, former Director, centre of Central Asian Studes, University of Kashmir, Dr. Sanaullah Parvez, Department of Philosophy, AMU and Dr. Abdul Majid Khan, Department of Islamic Studies, AMU.
Dr. Zargar said that Sheikh Noor-ud Din Wali typically represents the composite ethos and culture of Kashmir. He was a great Sufi saint and Islamic scholar who used poetry as a medium to propagate his ideas.
