29-OCT-2014: Polling for the post of President, Vice President, Honorary Secretary, ten members of Cabinet of the AMU Students‚?? Union, and student representatives at the University Court, Aligarh Muslim University went peaceful today. More than 70 percent students used their right to vote in a jubilant mood.
The officiating Vice Chancellor, Brig. Syed Ahmad Ali took a round in the campus and inspected the polling process at the various polling stations in different faculties. A vigilant proctorial team and security personnel kept a watch on the situation outside every polling booth. A large number of faculty members were deputed to conduct the polling in a peaceful and professional manner.
It may be noted that four candidates are in fray for the post of President of the AMU Students‚?? Union, while there are three for Vice President and two for the post of Honorary Secretary. Thirteen candidates are trying their luck for ten cabinet seats.
Besides the above, candidates are also fighting for a berth in the University‚??s apex body, University Court from twelve faculties.
The Chief Election Officer, Prof. Hakeem Naeem Ahmad thanks all students and teachers for the peaceful conduct of the election. He said that counting of votes will start soon and the results will be declared late tonight.
