17-Mar-2015: The Pro-Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Brigadier S Ahmad Ali today inaugurated the National Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on "Anatomy in New Imaging Era" organized by the Department of Anatomy, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University.
Addressing on the occasion, Brig. Ali said that the doctors should apply integrated teaching with the involvement of Anatomy and Radio diagnosis and they should teach not only the anatomy of the body but also apply part of the subject after showing X-rays, imaging of CT Scan and MRI etc.
Brig. Ali said that Anatomy should also be combined with neurosurgery and neurophysics. He said that Anatomy has been transformed because we can now examine a human being in unprecedented detail, sharing and preserving findings in high resolution digital formats. He further said that the JN Medical College is being equipped with modern technology especially in Radio diagnosis Department. We have some latest instruments for imaging the body to diagnose diseases.
Professor Mohd Shakeel Siddiqui, Department of Anatomy, Era Lucknow Medical College, Lucknow spoke about the current trends in Anatomical Imaging. He said that technologies are developing very fast and we should adopt all these technologies to survive in this modern age. He also gave example of role of stem cells further treatment of Alzheimer and Parkinsonâ??s diseases. He said that stem cells are being administered intra-nasally.
Professor Nafis Ahmad Faruqi, Organizing Chairman appreciated the efforts of Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor for the upliftment of JN Medical College. He said that after a long time such a useful and important programme under the CME is has been organized by the Department of Anatomy.
Professor S Bano, Dean, Faculty of Medicine said that over the last few decades, there has been an explosion of new techniques anatomical imaging, from endoscopy to MRI, together with newly introduced imaging technology in 3-D visualization. She hoped that the CME will prove to be an important initiative for setting up the path for future research in this field.
Prof. Tariq Mansoor, Principal and CMS, JNMC said that the Department of Anatomy is the oldest Department of Medical College and has produced nationally renowned teachers like Prof. Mehdi Hasan. He said, over the past 40 years, there has been a significant renaissance in the study of Anatomy.
Prof. Syed Mobashir Yunus, Organizing Secretary and Chairman Department of Anatomy said that the department came into existence in 1962 and it has always aimed at providing undergraduate and postgraduate students the knowledge and learning experience that would help them develop intellectual, professional, social and moral framework for society. He said that the delegates and guests will have ample opportunity to explore unique features of this place and this CME would serve as a forum to share and extend knowledge and experience in adopting modern tools in teaching and research in Anatomy.
