26-Mar-2015: The Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit (IBU), Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh organized a National Symposium cum Bioinformatics Workshop on "Macromolecular Interactions in Biology."
The University Grants Commission and Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India, New Delhi sponsored the symposium cum Workshop.
The Symposium began with a recitation from the Holy Quran. Professor Rizwan Hasan Khan, Coordinator of the IBU welcomed the guests. He appreciated the support and encouragement from Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Lt Zameer Uddin Shah (retd) and Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier Syed Ahmad Ali (retd) and the entire team of IBU for getting rank A by DBT. The inaugural speech was delivered by Professor H A S Yahya, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences, AMU, Aligarh.
Prof T P Singh, Distinguished Biotechnology Research Professor, Department of Biophysics, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi delivered the keynote address on "Structural basis of the Antibiotic action of Innate Immunity Proteins and their therapeutic applications as Protein antibiotics" where he emphasizes the need of novel protein based strategy for antibiotic development to combat antibiotic resistance.
The inaugural session came to an end with vote of thanks by Professor Asad Ullah Khan followed by the University Tarana and National Anthem by the students of Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit. Dr. Hina Younus conducted the program. Thirteen eminent scientists from various discipline delivered their research work in the symposium. More than 25 candidates participated in the symposium cum workshop.
