11-APR-2015: At least four Aligarh Muslim University research scholars, Afshan Naaz, Asfia Shabbir, Darakhshan Khanam and 'Yawar Sadiq bagged the ‚??Best Poster Presentation‚?? awards in the recently concluded International Conference on Medicinal plants organized by CSIR-CIMAP in Lucknow.
The research scholars won four out of ten awards during the event.
More than 450 scientists participated in the conference which was attended by delegates from Comoros, Egypt, France, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Palestine, South Africa, Thailand and USA. The event was also attended by a big contingent of 22 scientists from Iran.
AMU teachers Prof M Anis, Prof M Masroor Akhtar Khan and Prof Moinuddin; Post-Doctors, Dr M Naeem, Dr Naseem Ahmad, Dr Nigar Fatima and Dr Ruphi Naaz and Research Scholars for AMU‚??s Department of Botany, Anamica Upadhyay, Arshiya Akeel, Azmat Jahan, Bilal Bhat, Faisal Rasheed, Hasan Jaleel, Mehrun Nisha Khanam, Rakhshanda Akhtar, Sheikh Altaf Hussain, Tariq Ahmad Dar, Vikas Yadav, and Zeeshan Ahmad participated in the event.
The event had presentations on medicinal plants for improving human health and fighting against cancers and other chronic diseases. The scientists from CSIR-CIMAP showed their interest to extend their co-operation with AMU in future regarding the scientific strategies to escalate and improve the production and quality of medicinal and aromatic plants.
