22-APR-2015: Office bearers of the Aligarh Muslim University Officers Association (OA) recently attended a meeting at the University of Delhi's Guest House in Delhi to discuss issues related to anomalies in the pay scales, promotional avenues and service conditions for academic administrative officers working in centrally funded universities.
Invited by Mr P K Mohanty, Co Convener All India Federation of University Officers Association and General Secretary Delhi University and College Officers Association, Mr S M Suroor Athar, General Secretary, AMU OA and Mr Feeroz Khan, President, AMU OA attended the meeting.
The AMU OA along with officers of various associations from institutions of National importance from all over the country were invited to attend the meeting.
While addressing the meeting, Mr Athar emphasized the need for better coordination and strengthening of all associations across the country. "The need for formation of a coordination committee was discussed besides other interactions," said Mr Athar.
He was invited by Mr Mohanty to be a part of the delegation slated to meet Hon HRD Minister Smt Smriti Irani and Prof Ved Prakash, Chairman UGC for sorting out the issues related to academic administrative officers of the University.
In the meeting, Prof Inder Mohan Kapahy was felicitated on his elevation as a Member, University Grants Commission (UGC) along with Prof R K Bhatia, Hon Advisor to Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD).
While thanking the Officers Association, Prof Kapahy and Prof Bhatia assured to take up issues related to University Academic Administrative Officers with the Ministry of HRD and University Grants Commission.
The meeting became more significant as it was held in the backdrop of fast pacing the regulations already framed by the UGC to be placed before the full Commission meeting for approval and notification and for preparation of suggestions for upcoming Seventh Pay Commission.
