11-MAY-2015: Aligarh Muslim University Research Scholars recently bagged top prizes at a National Symposium on 'Dynamics of Crop Protection: Challenges in Agri-Horticultural Ecosystems Facing Climatic Change' held at the Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur.
The Symposium was organized by the Society of Plant Protection Sciences, ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi.
AMU scholars Ms Tanveer Fatima Rizvi (Department of Plant Protection) and Aisha Sumbul (Department of Botany) shared the first prize for Oral and Poster Presentations on nematode management and climatic change respectively.
Mr Faheem Ahmad and Mr Rizwan Ali Ansari shared the second prizes in two poster presentation categories. Mr Ansari presented a poster on 'Climate change on powdery mildews of cucurbits', while Mr Ahmad's presentation was on the "Management of root-knot nematode in paddy".
All these researches (except of Ms Aisha Sumbul) were carried in two research projects funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, and University Grants Commission, Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi to Dr Mujeebur Rahman Khan, Department of Plant Protection.
Meanwhile, Dr M R Khan was awarded with the 'SPPS Outstanding Scientist Award' for his overall contributions in the Plant Protection Sciences.
