17-MAY-2015: The prestigious B. Tech. and B. Arch. Entrance tests of Aligarh Muslim University have been conducted peacefully at Aligarh, Lucknow, Kolkata and Srinagar. More than sixteen thousand candidates appeared at 35 test centres in Aligarh out of which 2055 were women.
Prof. Javed Akhtar, Controller of Examination said that a total of 26,370 candidates have applied for admission to B.Tech while 3666 candidates are seeking admission to the B.Arch. course.
AMU Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah (Retd.), Pro-Vice Chancellor, Brig S. Ahmad Ali (Retd.), Registrar Dr. Asfar Ali Khan, DSW Prof. Anis Ismail, Proctor Prof. Jamshed Siddiqui and the Public Relations Officer, Dr. Rahat Abrar visited several test centres in Aligarh and assessed the arrangements made for the candidates and their parents.
During his inspection, AMU Vice Chancellor met the parents of the candidates and enquired about the problems. Most of the parents appreciated the efforts of the University authorities to provide all types of assistance and guidance including shelter and drinking water. The parents urged the University administration to increase number of seats in B. Tech. and strengthen the placement system in the University. They also requested the Vice Chancellor to include the date of declaration of results in the academic calendar announced by the office of the Controller of Examination.
Gen. Shah said that the AMU's admission process for all courses was transparent and he was making all efforts to elevate AMU to number one position amongst Indian universities, which would ultimately benefit the students in their career.
The Vice Chancellor visited the help camp organized by the medical students' organization Soch and appreciated their efforts to provide medical assistance to Nepal earthquake victims.
The National Service Scheme volunteers organized camps at the Aligarh railway station and various places in University campus under the supervision of its Coordinator, Dr. Mohd. Yamin to provide assistance and guidance to the candidates.
