10-SEP-2015: Mr. Paras Nath Sing, a student of BALLB final year at the Aligarh Muslim University Malappuram Centre, Kerala has urged all sections of the University fraternity to extend full cooperation to the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah and help him materialize the dream to make the AMU number one university of the country by 2017.
In an open letter written by him, Mr. Singh has exclaimed why Lt. Gen. Shah is being ostracized by some fringe elements while his appointment as the Vice Chancellor was made through a procedure duly approved by the President of India in her capacity as the Visitor of the University.
Mr. Singh pointed out that Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah was chosen by the University itself and not imposed by any external body. He said that the Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, while responding to a question in the Parliament in regard with the appointment of the Vice Chancellor of a university, has already clarified that "if in a democracy, the appointment is made by the Search and Selection Committee", it should be accepted.
Raising questions on the intent of the disgruntled elements, Mr. Singh has asked, "what has the Vice Chancellor done to become unworthy of the post of the Vice Chancellor? Should he surrender to vested interest or should he bow to whims of the fringe elements of the university?"
Mr. Paras Nath Singh testified that the Vice Chancellor/'s efficiency and honesty has greatly helped bring popularity to the University. He said that every section of the University should come forward to support his development programmes for the University.
