16-SEP-2015: Aligarh Muslim University has transferred one lakh ten thousand rupees each to 100 flood affected families‚?? account to construct houses. The amount was given to the families living in three villages located in West, East and North Kashmir identified by a six member committee comprising three faculty members, President, Vice President and Secretary of the AMU Students' Union. The second instalment was to be given after assessing utilization of first instalment.
The committee appointed by the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah under the convener ship of Dr. Abdul Majid Khan, Department of Islamic Studies visited the Jammu and Kashmir and identified the victims. The University had raised a fund of Rs. 1,16,12,999 donated by AMU faculty members, non-teaching employees and the students and faculty members'contribution stood at Rs. 42,42,170. Out of 1.6 crore rupees, 55 lakhs have already been distributed and again a University team intends to visit Kashmir to facilitate the distribution of remaining amount among the flood victims provided they are satisfied with proper utilization of first instalment.
