21-SEP-2015: Mr. Mohammad Hamza, a final year student of B.Arch in the Department of Architecture, Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University presented his research paper on Net-Zero Energy Buildings in ARCHDESIGN 15 Architectural Design Conference, held at Istanbul, Turkey. He was the only participant selected from India to attend the conference.
Mr Hamza presented the research paper titled "Development of Design Methodology to achieve a Net Zero Energy Building aided by Computer Simulations and Climatic Study" which focused on the use of computer simulations to achieve a building which produces as much electricity as it consumes over the course of a year. According to him, the process will be helpful in making the building itself pay for the electricity it consumes, virtually making the 'net' electricity bill 'zero' over the course of one year.
Mr Hamza's work was highly appreciated by the delegates present in the conference and especially by the session chair, Ar. Mehdi Sabet, an American Architect and Educator. Ar. Sabet was very keen to see the real life implementation of the concept and was highly impressed by Hamza's research acumen. He also praised the quality of education at Aligarh Muslim University for producing young researchers like Hamza even at the Bachelor's level.
Mr. Hamza also expressed his sincere gratitude to his two co-authors -Nazish Abid, a former student of AMU and especially to Ar. Nawab Ahmad, Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture, ZH College of Engineering and Technology for their tireless support and contribution towards the research.
