05-DEC-2015: Dr Sadaf Zaidi, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University recently received the third prize for an oral representation of her research paper, 'SVR Modeling of Convection Dominated Subcooled Boiling Heat Transfer Coefficient in a Vertical Tube Thermosiphon' at an International Conference on 'Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering' held at the Hotel Lalit in Mumbai.
The Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai had organized this International Conference, which was attended by a gathering of illustrious luminaries from the world over and different parts of the country.
Dr Sadaf said that the paper he presented was about application of soft computing modeling technique called 'Support Vector Machine' (SVM). He added that his paper focused on developing a model for predicting accurately with high generalization ability, the convection dominated sub-cooled boiling heat transfer coefficient in a thermosiphon reboiler.
He further said that the use of thermosiphon reboiler in his research paper illustrates how it is used in petroleum, chemical and petro-chemical industries as a vaporizer and evaporator.
