21-JAN-2016: In a community outreach program to create awareness on prevention and management of diabetes, the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology, Faculty of Medicine, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University will organize a diabetic camp on January 24, 2016 at the National Charitable Hospital in the upper fort area of Aligarh. The camp will start from 9:30 am and close around 2: 00 pm.
Professor Jamal Ahmad of the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology confirmed that Mrs Ghazala Kohkan, the management trustee of Diabetes Education and Awareness Program (DEAP), Dr Niam Zafar and Dr Saud Alam (well-known nutritionist and diabetes educator) will be available at the camp.
â??We request people, who are above 20-years in age with weight problems and a family history of diabetes to attend the camp for their health check-ups,â?? said Prof Jamal adding that people who are confirmed diabetic are also requested to attend the camp.
Prof Jamal further said that the camp will have free 'blood-sugar' tests. He added that the patients will have their blood pressure recorded at the camp besides being oriented for the same, while suffering with diabetes.
â??There will also be orientations on healthy habits for diabetic people including the daily physical exercises and healthy eating habits for prevention,â?? said Prof Jamal.
He concluded by saying that the camp will have a special focus on the check-ups of people from the marginalized sections of society.
