15-Feb-2016: While addressing the inaugural function of the 16th IIRS Outreach program at Department of Geology, Aligarh Muslim University, the Pro Vice Chancellor Brig S Ahmad Ali (Retd.) said that it is a matter of pride that the students of the Department are bringing laurels to the University by achieving success not only in their regular departmental exams but also at the prominent institutions like Geological Survey of India.
Brig Ali urged the students to participate in other prestigious competitive exams. He said that the University administration is committed towards creating a competitive environment in the campus and the efforts are being made to provide study culture in the hostel rooms of the students.
Professor LAK Rao, Chairman, Department of Geology and EDUSAT Coordinator informed that in recent years, the IIRS has organized 15 such programs in which more than 300 students of different Universities and colleges participated with enthusiasm. He further informed that since 2012, the Department of Geology has completed 7 such programs. Professor Rao hoped that the current course would prove to be fruitful for the students. The course, scheduled to conclude on 15th march, is centered on the topic 'Geospatial technologies for Urban planning', he added.
On this occasion, Professor Abdul Munir, Dean, Faculty of Science, along with the faculty members, were present. The program has been organized by Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun under the auspices of Department of Science, Government of India.
