02-MAR-2016: Department of Arabic, Aligarh Muslim University today organized a two-day national seminar on ‚??Contribution of India to Linguistic Sciences with Special Reference to Indo-Arabic Literature: An Interdisciplinary Approach‚??.
Inaugurating the Seminar, AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah urged the research scholars and students of Arabic to improve their Communicative English for increased job opportunities all over the world. He also advised the faculty members to update their profile on the University website and contribute quality research papers in the high impact research journals for better ranking of the University.
Lt. Gen. Shah said that the Department of Arabic is doing a good job for the promotion of Arabic language.
Welcoming the delegates, Prof. Masud Anwar Alvi, Chairman, Department of Arabic said that in recognition of the academic performance under DSA, ASHIS, the University Grants' Commission (UGC) has sanctioned a sum of Rs. one crore eighty nine lakh to furthering the academic pursuits and achieving the desired goals.
He said that the Department of Arabic, since its inception during Sir Syed's time, has been embarking upon academic endeavors in a way that earned it national and international acclaim. He said that hundreds of Ph.D., and M.Phil., degrees have been awarded to students from India and abroad.
On this occasion, AMU Vice Chancellor released the Department's Journal. Prof. Khalid Naj, El-Samarrai of Iraq released the book of authored by Prof. Abu Sufiyan Islahi. Prof. Imtiaz Hasnain also released the book of Prof. M. Sanaullah Nadvi.
Prof. S. Kafeel Ahmad Qasmi, Dean, Faculty of Arts highlighted the objective of the Seminar and said that India is a significant centre of Arabic language and literature and it has contributed a lot to Arabic studies.
Dr. Ahsan Khan conducted the programme and Prof. M. Sanaullah Nadvi, proposed a vote of thanks.
