04-APR-2016: K. A. Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies of the Aligarh Muslim University today organized a two-day International Conference on "Social and Spiritual Teachings of the Quran in Contemporary Perspective"
Delivering the keynote address, Professor Akhtarul Wasey, Commissioner of Linguistic Minorities, Government of India said that holy Quran is a way of life. He said that Quran addresses all human beings, irrespective of their caste, gender, colour or creed. Since the Quranic message is permeated with perfect justice and fairness, it makes no distinct between Muslims and Non-Muslims and exhorts them to be kind, just and fair to one another.
In his welcome address, Professor Ahtisham A. Nizami, Director of KA Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies said that this Centre is focusing on the study of Quran and related sciences. Its outreach programmes promote a more informed understanding of Islamic culture and civilization. The centre provides a meeting point between the Islamic and Western world of learning, he added.
Prof. Nizami said that the Centre contributes to the Aligarh Muslim University's mission of promoting Islamic studies, religious education, educational advancement of Muslims and the secular traditions.
AMU Pro-Chancellor, Nawab Ibne Saeed Khan of Chhatari presided over the inaugural function.
A large number of delegates from all parts of India and abroad will present their papers during different sessions of the conference.
Prof. F. S. Shirani conducted the programme and proposed a vote of thanks.
