10-APR-2016: The first phase of entrance test for admission to MBBS/BDS courses of the Aligarh Muslim University was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner at Aligarh, Lucknow, Allahabad, Bhopal, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Srinagar, Patna, Guwahati and Kozhikode. In all, about 60 thousand candidates applied for the entrance test at various test centres. More than 19 thousand candidates appeared at various test centres in Aligarh.
This year, ten thousand candidates more have appeared for the prestigious test comparing the number of candidates of previous year.
It may be noted that for the first time AMU is conducting this admission test in two tiers and the Tier-II admission test for short listed candidates will be organized only in Aligarh on June 1, 2016.
AMU Pro-Vice Chancellor, Brig. S. Ahmad Ali, along with senior University officials, visited several test centres in Aligarh. He appreciated the efforts of the University authorities to conduct the test in a smooth and transparent manner.
He also interacted with parents and assured them that the selected candidates will be provided better accommodation and study facilities.
AMU Registrar, Dr. Asfar Ali Khan, DSW, Prof. Anis Ismail, Controller of Examinations Prof. Javed Akhtar, Proctor Prof. M. Mohsin Khan and Dr. Rahat Abrar, Consultant (PR) visited different test centres in Aligarh.
The parents of candidates appreciated the efforts of the University to provide various facilities for them, including cold water and shelter. They considered AMU test as a model for other institutions of higher learning.
AMU had deputed senior faculty members as observers to supervise the smooth conduct of test at various centres. Special help camps were organized by National Service Scheme (NSS) and other voluntary groups.
The University Proctorial teams were posted on different locations to keep a strict vigilance of the situation. District Administration also provided necessary assistance including traffic policing for smooth conduct of test.
