26-SEP-2016: Mr S M Sajid Hasan, Secretary, Old Boys Association of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) recently passed away after a heart attack in a New Delhi Hospital.
Late Mr Hasan was the Secretary, Old Boys Association since May 2013. He was earlier the Joint Secretary (outside Aligarh), Old Boys Association from 1994-1999. He was an eminent AMU alumnus, who was instrumental in demanding the right for the minority character of the university.
Mr Hasan had organised many conventions and programmes in Aligarh and other cities to inform people on AMU's stand on the minority character. These programmes were widely covered by the local and national media.
Earlier in 2016, Mr Hasan organised a national convention on "Establishment of out off Campus Special Study/Examination Centres: A Threat to the Minority and Residential Character of AMU". The programme was attended by dignitaries from all over the country.
The deceased, who was from the family of the Nawab of Asgharabad is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
AMU Vice Chancellor Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (retd), Pro Vice Chancellor Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (retd) and officiating Registrar, Professor Asfar Ali Khan have sent their condolences to Late Mr Hasan's family members. The entire AMU community is mourning Mr Hasan's sad demise.
