27-SEP-2016: The Hindi Implementation Committee, Aligarh Muslim University recently organized a 'Hindi-Week' Programme at the Department of Hindi, AMU.
During the week-long programme competitions of essay writing, official letter writing, technical terminology knowledge and extempore speech events were held.
Inaugurating the programme, Professor Hari Mohan, Vice Chancellor, J S University, Shikohabad said that Hindi language is not only flexible but also easy to speak. He added that film and technology is playing a major role in the development of Hindi language today.
AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (retd) said that if a language has to become a lingua-franca, it has to be easy in speaking.
He added that AMU's Department of Hindi, since its beginning is playing a very important role in promoting and developing the Hindi language.
Professor Sheikh Mastan, Dean Faculty of Arts said that even though he belongs to a non-Hindi speaking state, but he has always been well versed in the Hindi language. He further urged students to learn other Indian languages too.
Earlier, Prof Abdul Aleem, Secretary, Hindi Implementation Committee and Chairman, Department of Hindi welcomed the guests. Dr Shahul Hameed proposed the vote of thanks and Dr Mairaj Ahmad conducted the programme.
While distributing prizes to the winners of various competitions held during the week-long programme, AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (retd) said that Hindi is the language, which is playing an important role in maintaining the unity and integrity of India.
In his presidential remarks, retired Professor, Dr Budhsen Sharma said that with the development in the Hindi language, the world is recognizing the importance of Hindi to make it a global language. He further said that this can be seen in the interest of non-Hindi speaking people, who are willing to learn the language.
