07-OCT-2016: During the Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations, the Disability Unit, Aligarh Muslim University recently organized a counseling session followed by ‚??Head phones and Pen Drives Distribution Program‚?? for visually challenged students at the Conference Hall of Education Department.
Presiding over the function, AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (retd) acknowledged the efforts made by Dr Abdul Hamid Faizili, Coordinator, Disability Unit for the running the Unit in a well organized manner.
The Pro Vice Chancellor assured the students that all possible help will be provided from time to time to meet their demands.
He urged the students to concentrate on their studies and avail full benefits from the Unit.
The Pro Vice Chancellor also inaugurated the transport service for Visually Challenged Girl students by driving the Bus upto Gulistan ‚?? e- Syed.
Dr Faizili welcomed the guests and made a detailed accord of the achievement of the unit during 2015-16.
He said that the Disability Unit has been successful in making reservations for disabled students for admissions in various courses including MBBS, BDS, MD,MD BUMS, Pre-Tib and MCH.
He pointed out that 200 posts of Teaching and Non- Teaching have been reserved and advertised and some posts have already been filled.
Speaking on the transport facility, Dr Faizili said that the Unit has started for the Visually Challenged girl students residing in I G Hall to attend the classes without any problem.
Dr Faizili thanked the Pro Vice Chancellor for bringing the Unit on University budget from the session 2016-17.
Professor Anees Islamil, Guest of Honour expressed that coordinator should prepare a detailed proposal to be sent to Uttar Pradesh Government for Laptop facility for the differently-abled students.
Dr Bilal Ahmad proposed the Vote of thanks while Ms Iqura Fatima conducted the program.
