08-NOV-2016: Viqarul Mulk (VM) Hall, Aligarh Muslim University in collaboration with the Training and Placement Office (General) recently conducted a Career-Counseling program for newly admitted students to help them understand their talents through interactive counselling and expert advises. The programme was aimed to guide students for their future prospects.
While answering the queries of students in the counseling session, Mr Saad Hameed, TPO (General) emphasized upon the need and importance of career counselling programs among students. After the counseling session, Mr Hameed said that AMU students are a talented lot and their skills should be harnessed properly.
Mr Hameed also illustrated success stories of AMU alumni during the counseling sessions for making students understand and realize their inherent strengths for choosing the best suited career prospects.
On the occasion, Professor Shadab Khurshid, Provost, VM Hall talked about the importance of inculcating positive attitude towards research and entrepreneurship in students as future citizens of India.
He also informed that VM Hall will soon establish a fully equipped career and guidance cell for the residents. "The cell will help students in shaping their career and provide right directions to students," he added.
Mr Zulfiqar Sheth, PhD Research Scholar highlighted difference between job and career. He said that a career is a long-term pursuit of a lifelong ambition, while a job is a temporary venture mostly taken to earn money. He further spoke on how extra-curricular activities, internships and community services are helpful in achieving successful careers.
Dr Md Ehteshamuddin, General Warden welcomed the guest speakers, while Prof Khurshid felicitated Mr Hameed.
Prof Syed Ahmad Ali proposed the vote of thanks.
