27-NOV-2016: The Disability Unit, Aligarh Muslim University recently held a 'Counseling Programme' for the volunteers and differently-able students in the Conference Hall of Department of Education, in which Dr Abdul Hamid Fazili, Coordinator, Disability Unit and Dr Bilal Ahmad Kutty, Councillor and Placement Officer warmly welcomed them.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Fazili urged the volunteers to be honest in their duties. While talking about the upcoming 'International Day of Persons with Disabilities' on December 3, Dr Fazili said that the Day will be celebrated with great zeal. He also urged the students to hold meetings with other students of the hall for the preparations.
Dr Fazili laid emphasis on how volunteers are supposed to convince general students to help the differently-able students.
Meanwhile, Dr Kutty informed that the theme of this year's 'International Day of Persons with Disabilities' is 'Sustainable development Goals.' He added that through the observation of this Day, awareness of disability as a cross-cutting development issue will be raised.
He further said the theme is timely, as it marks the conclusion of the period of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGS) in 2016 and launching of the new development framework of sustainable development goals (SDGs).
