14-DEC-2016: In yet another achievement, Aligarh Muslim University,s Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) recently conducted the first Invasive Brain Angiography. The procedure, done on a 10-year-old boy was performed by Dr Asmat Ali under the supervision of Professor M F Huda, Head, Department of Neurosurgery.
Dr Ali is highly trained in Invasive Interventional Neurosurgery and has done his Mch in neurosurgery from the G B Pant Hospital, New Delhi.
The patient on whom the surgery was done was diagnosed with brain tumour after a C T Scan. Brain angiography is technically a difficult procedure, which is done in selected centres in North India. Besides AMU's JNMC, the procedure is done at SG PGI Lucknow, AIIMS and GB Panth. "The procedure, which costs around 40-50 thousand Rupees was done free of cost to the patient in JNMC," confirmed the Hospital officials.
