19-DEC-2016: Dr Z A Dental College Society, Aligarh Muslim University recently celebrated the 'Foundation Day' of the Z A Dental College with a week-long programme, 'Quindeel'. AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) attended the function as the Chief Guest in which Ms Syeda Quratulain Mazhar was awarded the title of 'Student of the Year' while Batch 2013 was given the title of the 'Batch of the year.'
While addressing the function, General Shah said that the University, with its resources, is doing the best for the Dental College and we know that this College has the best of talents and academic excellence in the University.
Gen Shah urged the students and the faculty members of the Dental College to move fast in academic excellence, while securing the safety and interests of their future and the University.
"It is hoped that Dental College will keep on reaching new heights and the students and teachers of the college will continue bringing laurels to the University," also said the Vice Chancellor.
Prof Rajendra Kumar Tewari, Acting Principal, Z A Dental College pointed out that since the foundation of this college, a lot has been achieved. He added that the number of post graduate seats in various streams of the Dental College has been increased and we await the approval of the Government for two more seats for MDS and two seats for non-academic junior residents.
"We are extremely thankful to the Vice Chancellor and the University administration for doing the needful in the interest of the Dental College," said Prof Tewari adding that we need further improvements like the installation of a solar plant in the college premises to meet the power requirements and smooth functioning of the college.
Prof Amanullah Khan, Dean, Faculty of Medicine pointed out that it has been 20-years, since the establishment of the Z A Dental College. The then Vice Chancellor, Dr Mahmoodur Rahman's vision of establishing this Dental College and making this college a quality centre of learning is now reaching new heights with the present administration's dedication and cooperation.
Prof Khan urged the students and teachers of the Dental College to carry out useful co-curricular activities throughout the year.
Prof Tariq Mansoor, Principal and CMS, JN Medical College and Hospital said that the University stands proud of the Dental College alumni, who are spread all over the world and who are contributing to society with their hard work. Meanwhile, Prof Mansoor also urged the Dental College students and teachers to also work on outreach programmes.
While delivering the Welcome address, Dr Kamran Ahmad Zaidi, President, Dr Z A Dental College Society urged the Vice Chancellor to bring in additional PG seats in various courses offered by the College.
Ms Sidra Aslam, Cultural Secretary, Dr Z A Dental College Society read out the College Week Report. Ms Shagufta Farheen, Vice President, Dr Z A Dental College Society conducted the programme while Mr Mohammad Arman, Secretary of the Society proposed the vote of thanks.
On the Occasion, the Vice Chancellor and his wife Mrs Sabiha Seemi Shah, Prof Amanullah Khan, Prof Tariq Mansoor and Prof R K Tewari and Prof H S Hashmi distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions held during the celebrations.
