22-DEC-2016: Aligarh Muslim University students can now make cashless transactions to pay their fees as the Finance and Accounts Department of the University has procured PoS machines for collecting the fees. The initiative has been taken under the Vittiya Saksharata Abhiyan (VISAKA) of the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD).
Professor S M Jawed Akhtar, Finance Officer, AMU has also assured that the University will soon have more PoS machines for collecting cash at different income generating establishments of AMU. "University's Gas Agency, Central Automobile Workshop, University guest House and Dining Halls of different halls of residences will also be equipped with PoS machines," added Prof Akhtar.
Prof Imran Saleem, Department of Commerce and Provost, Sir Ziauddin Hall has been appointed as Nodal Officer of VISAKA to organise and coordinate with different University functionaries participating in the programme. Meanwhile, NSS and NCC Units of the University are also busy launching campaigns in different localities adjoining the campus to educate shop-keepers and local residents on digital payment.
