Dept of Land and Gardens concludes Annual Flower Show?2017
Aligarh, March 6: The Department of Land and Gardens, Aligarh Muslim University recently concluded the Annual Flower Show?2017 held at the Gulistan-e-Syed. The winners of the show received prizes from AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (Veteran).
Mrs Rizwana Ali; Professor Yusufuzzaman Khan, Controller of Examinations; Prof Jamal A Khan, OSD (Development); Prof SM Javed Akhtar, RAF Commandant, Mr Hilal Firoz; Prof Asfar Ali Khan, former MICs Land and Garden Prof. Arif Inam, Prof. Saeed Siddiqui, Prof Sujauddin, Prof Wazahat Husain and Principal Dental College Prof RK Tiwari also felicitated the winners during the closing ceremony.
Addressing the program, Brigadier Ali, who was attending the function as the Chief Guest said that gardening can not only be considered a hobby, but also a field of study under which we can learn creative aspects of life.
He added that in addition to imparting quality education, AMU is also working towards the maintenance of an eco-friendly environment in and around the campus.
A total of 276 prizes were distributed, in which 73 entries received the first prizes, 96 received the second prizes and 107 were given the consolation prizes.
The Vice Chancellor Lodge won the University Running Cup for the best exhibit of the show, HP Bhaiyaji Running Cup for the best garden of the University between 100 sqm to 1500 sqm and the University Running Cup for the best exhibit in class D.
The Pro Vice Chancellor Lodge won the Smt Rekha Krishna Memorial Running Cup for the best garden of the University below 250 sqm, Mr M Habib Running Cup for the best exhibit in class C, Mr Zafar Alam Running Cup for the best exhibit in class D, Begum Sarwatan Nisa Cup for the best lawn large size, the University running cup for the best garden of the University above 1500 sqm, Anand Chaturvedi Memorial Running Cup for the best exhibit in Class C and Mr Nafisul Hasan Running cup for the best Rose in class C-4 were won by Gulistan-e-Syed.
The teams of Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology won the University Running Cup for the best university garden between 500 sqm and 1000 sqm, Incharge, Botanical Garden the University Running Cup for the best university garden between 250 sqm and 500 sqm, Syed Viqar Ahmad Running Cup for the best exhibit in class F1-F6 and Prof Suhail Ahmad Memorial Running Cup for different Cacti (grown in pots) and Commandant 104 RAF the University Running Cup for the best Institutional Garden.
Dr Sadia Saeed individually won Dr MK Gupta and Smt Sudha Gupta Running Trophy for the best private garden.
Prof Parvez Qamar Rizvi, Member Incharge Land and Garden conduct the programme and Dr Shahabuddin purpose the vote of thanks.
