Candle Light March in AMU to mark International Women?s Day
Aligarh, March 8: To mark the occasion of International Women?s Day the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University took out a candle light march, which commenced from the Faculty of Medicine and concluded at Bab-e-Syed gate.
The Vice Chancellor Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) along with his wife Mrs Sabiha Simi Shah inaugurated the march and participated throughout with the Pro Vice Chancellor Brig S Ahmad Ali (Veteran); Mrs Rizwana Ali; Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof M Amanullah Khan; JNMC Principal and CMS Prof Tariq Mansoor and teachers and students of JNMC.
Prof Seema Hakim, Chairperson, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology said that the candle light march is organized with an objective to create awareness amongst campus students, teachers and general population for ending the biasness against females.
She informed that the onus is on the whole community to reflect upon the current scenario of gender in-equality and to spread the light of a better gender inclusive world. ?Each of us has the potential to sway against the inequality and empower women in bringing out their leadership qualities? Prof Hakim added.
She added that the march shall demonstrate the world, the calibre of leadership of AMU towards carrying public opinion in the right direction of gender equality.
