IQAC organises lecture series
Aligarh, March 14: The Internal Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC), Aligarh Muslim University recently organised a lecture series in the Department of English. Professor Isabel Karreman from the University of Wurzburg, Germany; Professor Simi Malhotra from Jamia Millia Islamia and Professor Saugata Bhaduri from JNU delivered special lectures during the series.
While Professor Isabel Karreman, who specializes in the study and criticism of Shakespearean Drama opened up an alternative understanding of the text for the literature students attending the talk; Prof Simi Malhotra talked about ?Humanity in Crisis? with the perspective of general and textual terms. Meanwhile, Professor Saugata Bhaduri talked about 'Romanticism, its Politics and philosophy' with special reference to Coleridge's 'Kubla Khan'.
The lectures were followed by a panel-discussion, in which the guests were joined by Prof Seemin Hasan, Chairperson, Department of English, AMU. The discussion was an attempt to understand the various methods employed by universities across India and abroad in the teaching, assessment and evaluation of Literature. Prof Rizwan Khan, Director, IQAC moderated the panel.
