Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit, AMU starts two-day National Symposium cum Workshop
Aligarh, March 16: The Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit, Aligarh Muslim University today inaugurated a two-day National Symposium cum Bioinformatics Workshop on ?Current Trends in Proteomics and Bioinformatics?. The Symposium cum Workshop, which has been sponsored by UGC and DBT, Government of India is focused on translation of basic science to medicine.
While presiding over the inaugural function, Professor Syed Asif A Naqvi, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences highlighted the role of Biotechnology in different disciplines of Science and Life Science including Museology and Wildlife.
The key Speaker of the Session, Dr Sudhanshu Vrati, Director, Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad enlightened the audience and the participants on the success story of Vaccine Development in India. During his lecture, Dr Vrati threw light on Rotavirus Vaccine for Indian population, which is now avaliable in the market.
While welcoming the guests and participants, Professor Rizwan Hasan Khan, Coordinator of the programme highlighted the profile of Biotechnology. Prof Khan pointed out that the topic of symposium is very much related to new developments in new diagnostic approaches. He particularly thanked the AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) and Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (Veteran) for the necessary support in organising the programme.
He also mentioned the remarkable progress of Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit, AMU in the past five years in terms of high quality research publications, patents and awards credited to the faculty members.
?The Interdisciplinary Biotechnology was accredited ?A? by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India,? said Prof Khan.
Professor Asad U Khan proposed the vote of thanks to the speakers, participants and the university authorities including UGC and DBT. Dr Hina Younus conducted the programme.
