JNMC team successfully operates heart of 14-year-old, Sajan
Aligarh, March 20: A team of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College?s Centre of Cardiology consisting of Prof Asif Hasan, Prof M U Rabbani, Dr Shaad Abqari and Dr Rafi Anwar have recently successfully operated 14-year-old, Sajan, a resident of Atrauli in Aligarh district, who was diagnosed with a hole in his heart.
Sajan was admitted in the Jawharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University after complaining of tiredness and shortness of breath. He was diagnosed with a hole in heart by Dr Shaad Abqari, however pressures in his heart were raised and he needed cath study to decide if he could be operated.
After the cath study at JNMC?s Cath Lab, a procedure was done by Prof Asif Hasan, Prof M U Rabbani , Dr Shaad Abqari and Dr Rafi Anwar. Sajan was jointly operated by Cardiothoracic surgeons from JNMC and Safdarjung Hospital
?It was technically challenging operation due to raised pressures in the patient?s heart,? said JNMC officials adding that the surgical team comprised of Dr Manju Gupta, HOD CTVS VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, who is also an adjunct faculty in department of Cardiothoracic surgery, JNMC, AMU; Prof M H Beg, Dr Mohd Azam Haseen and Dr Ehtesham Hussain Naqvi.
Dr Manazir Athar under the guidance of Prof Abdul Qadir, Chairperson, Department of Anaesthesiaology and Critical Care gave anaesthesia to the patient.
Meanwhile, Prof M H Beg, Chairperson, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, JNMC informed that the patient knew about the disease since a long time but couldn?t get operated because of financial problems.
Prof M A Khan Dean Faculty of Medicine and Prof Tariq Mansoor, Principal and CMS JNMC have congratulated the teams involved in surgery.
