25-MAR-2017: AMU organizes Summer Roller Skating Coaching Camp
Aligarh, March 25: The Aligarh Muslim University Games Committee organized a Summer Coaching Camp for Roller Skating to train young talents in this field. The camp will conclude on June 30, 2017.
Professor B.B Singh, President, Gymnasium Club said that Roller skating promotes confidence as being on the rink and making small advancements towards a new trick or even just letting go of the skate mate can be a huge boost for a child?s self esteem. He added, ?Roller skating gets kids off of the tech tools! With video games and smart phones in their hands, it?s tough to get them to be social in a face-to-face setting. They won?t even be thinking about their phones once they set foot on the rink.?
Prof B.B. Singh also pointed out that it is a common observation that many children show positive attitudes toward physical education and, when compared, there is no significant difference between the attitudes of school going boys and girls.
While inaugurating the programme, Ali Akbar, Coach, Roller Skating Club pointed out that the objective of the summer camp is to inculcate the interest of roller skating in children so that they could participate in the international and national events like Atif Hasan, Hashab and Haris who brought laurels to the university while participating in international championship and Yazdan, Santosh, Tarook and Naeem who partook in national level events.
He further informed that the AMU Skating Club for the first time participated in the inter university ROLL BALL championship in Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, Prof Shoeb Zaheer, Secretary, University Games Committee thanked the Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor for providing moral and financial support to upgrade the sports facilities and renovation of the club.
The coaching sessions in the camp will be held daily from 6:00 to 8:00 in morning and 4:00 to 6:00 in evening.
