National conference held on Quality Chemistry Education
ALIGARH March 25: The Department of Chemistry, Aligarh Muslim University today organized a National Conference on ?Quality Chemistry Education for Advancement in Chemical Sciences?, which was inaugurated by Prof. Abdul Muneer, Dean, Faculty of Science while Prof. S.A.A. Zaidi was the Guest of Honour.
Prof. A.K. Bakhshi, Vice Chancellor, PDM University, Haryana discussed the current chemistry education scenario in India. He also stressed how information and communication technology (ICT) could change the face of chemistry education in the country. He said that the event will provide a common platform for scientific interaction to the researchers and academicians in the emerging areas of Chemistry.
Eminent teachers from different universities were invited for lectures. Prof. Rajeev Gupta Department of Chemistry, University of Delhi talked about Metal Complexes with Secondary Coordination Sphere while Prof. N.B. Singh, Research and Technology Department, Sharda University, Noida discussed about Geo polymer Cement.
Prof. V. Haridas, IIT Delhi gave a lecture on topology of Molecular Engineering whereas Prof. N.G. Ramesh, Department of Chemistry, IIT Delhi spoke on diversity oriented synthesis.
Prof. Rafiuddin was the Organizing Secretary while Prof. Suhail Sabir played an important role as the Joint Secretary. Prof. M. Shakir, Chairman Department of Chemistry coordinated the function.
There were about 150 Oral and Poster presentations.
