Sir Syed?s 119th death anniversary observed
ALIGARH March 27: The Aligarh Muslim University today observed the 119th death anniversary of its founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan while paying rich tributes to him through a number of programmes including a Quran Khwani (Recitation of the Holy Quran), which was held at the University Jama Masjid after the Fajr prayer.
On the occasion, AMU Registrar Professor Javaid Akhter laid a floral chadar (cloth) at Sir Syed?s grave.
Prof S M Jawaid Akhtar, Finance Officer; Prof Tawqeer Alam Falahi, Dean Faculty of Theology; Prof Parvez Qamar Rizvi, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences; Prof Kaleemuddin, Director RCA; Prof M M Sufiyan Beg, Principal, Z H College of engineering and Technology; Prof Suhail Sabir, Chairperson, Alumni Affairs Committee; Dr Rahat Abrar, Director, Urdu Academy; Mr Omar S Peerzada, PRO and Dr Nabi Hasan, Librarian, Maulana Azad Library along with other faculty members, students, non-teaching staff and Imams of various university based mosques were present on the occasion.
Sir Syed was born on October 17, 1817 in Delhi and left for heavenly abode on March 27, 1898 at Aligarh.
