UGC HRD Centre, AMU launches Orientation Program 146 and Summer School in Human Rights
Aligarh, May 8: The University Grants Commission Human Resource Development Centre (UGC HRD) associated with Aligarh Muslim University today launched the Orientation Program 146 and Summer School in Human Rights in which over 100 newly appointed University and College teachers from AMU and other institutions of higher learning from Assam, Bihar, Kerala, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh have enrolled. While the Orientation programme will conclude on June 6, 2017; the Summer School in Human Rights will conclude on May 30, 2017.
During the inaugural function of the programme, Professor Abdur Raheem Kidwai, Director, UGC HRD Centre, AMU talked about the aims of the Orientation programme and how it will serve in recharging energies of teachers. He also spoke on the salient features of the programme.
Talking about the work of AMU founder Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and the Aligarh Movement, Prof Kidwai said that the driving force behind establishing this University was the brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims of India.
While welcoming the participants, Dr Faiza Abbasi, Assistant Professor, UGC HRDC, AMU said that the staff of the Centre is deeply committed in making the stay of the out of station participants comfortable in the hostels. She added that it is hoped that a unique learning environment will be created for all the participants.
Professor A P Vijapur from the Department of Political Science, AMU, who is also the coordinator of the Summer School in Human Rights was present on the occasion.
